A letter of credit provides security both for the seller (the letter of credit user) and for the buyer (the principal).  With a letter of credit contracted , the seller is certain that  in case he executed his part of an operation and all commercial documents are presented by him , he will collect his goods, whereas the buyer is sure as to the acceptance of the same goods or services pursuant to conditions of a letter of credit.
